Boy do heirloom apples have some fun names! Today I am talking about the Ashmead’s Kernel apple, a highly flavored apple that can be sharp and tart. This apple is seeing a mini comeback as a beloved apple cider variety.
One reason apple like this one aren’t as common as they were many year ago is their appearance. It's not the uniform, perfect looking red apple that were pushed on us for years. But I think it’s a pretty apple. What about you?
