Did you know that there’s an apple variety called Hawaii that has nothing to do with the state of Hawaii? This apple actually originates from California, specifically from the city of Sebastopol—known for the Gravenstein Apple Festival. Interestingly, the Gravenstein apple is one of the parents of the Hawaii apple.
In this episode, I’m sharing everything I know about the Hawaii apple and explaining why I’m holding off on giving my final verdict until I’ve tried one grown in California.
Hawaii is one of 26 varieties of yellow apples that I have tried over the years.
