Back in 2020, I was in Iowa and got to taste the original strain of Red Delicious, called the Hawkeye or as they labelled it Heritage Red.
Not a bad apple at all. It’s a sweet apple that doesn’t have the issues that the modern day Red Delicious is faced with. You can see in that photo that they aren’t as solid red at all and have some yellow in the skin.
