Before Walmart launched out of Bentonville, Arkansas, the Arkansas Black apple was their claim to fame! This dark red, almost black apple is a great storage apple that lasts for months and months and months. In today’s episode I share about it’s history and how I was excited to find them when I visited Arkansas in the fall of 2020.
One of my subscribers, Marianne, shared that she found them at Whole Foods recently. Thanks for sharing that! Depending on the Whole Foods you can from time to time find some more rare or heirloom apples. I worked for Whole Foods years ago, and my favorite thing to stock was the local heirloom apples that we got from an orchard on the west side of Michigan.
Thank you to everyone who has listened to the podcast since I launched it back in the fall. I surpassed 1000 downloads this past week. Now let’s see how fast it takes to get to 2000.
