Episode 13 - The History of Lady Apples

In this episode you will learn about a tiny apple that is one of the oldest known apple varieties in the world.

Apples come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes! The apple I am talking about today is unique in size as they are only 2 inches in diameter. The Lady Apple is a small apple that people love to decorate with (like making wreaths) and are ones you see in photos in and around a turkey!

The apple is more on the sweet side with some tartness to it. It can range in flavor to pleasant to bland. Most of that flavor comes to you in the skin.

To get an idea of their size, here is a picture of some Lady apples surrounding a Hanner’s Jumbo apple, which is on the opposite end, known for being a huge apple, some specimen weighting in as much as 2 pounds!
