The beautiful Red Delicious apple!!!!!!!
Congrats to Red Delicious on being the apple of my eye.
But as we all know, making any major announcement on April 1st is about as meaningful as Red Delicious truly is to my life.
In all seriousness, Red Delicious has never been my favorite apple. When I was a kid, Golden Delicious was my top choice, but right now, I can’t pick a favorite. There are just too many that I love!!!!
I do rag on Red Delicious a lot, but it’s an apple that used to be pretty decent. Not great, but definitely decent. I’ve had some of the older strains of Red Delicious that didn’t have that "perfect apple-for-the-teacher" look. The original name was “Hawkeye,” and I’ve tried that strain a couple of times. It’s not bad at all. It doesn’t have the bitter skin that many dislike about Red Delicious, and it looks quite different—definitely not as red.
